Numerous Memories behind 2020?

Every passing year leaves behind numerous memories and events that remain embedded in our hearts and minds. The 21st century turned 20 this year. Like every New year celebrations. This year was also introduced with the same zeal and zest but while celebrating on 31st December we all had no idea what this year had in surprise for us. Just like any normal year the starting month usually feels quite prolonged, the same happened with 2020. Little did we know that the upcoming months would affect the world in such a way that would leave us all in utter shock. 

COVID-19 Updates?

The year 2020 came with an outbreak of the coronavirus or COVID 19. It is basically a respiratory disorder, that proved fatal to people above 55. The symptoms of coronavirus are pretty similar to that of any common cold or flu. Sneezing, coughing, headache and fever. This virus is reported to spread from Wuhan, a city located in China. Wuhan is said to be famous for its animal market where animals of all kinds were sold. Although the cases of Covid-19 started getting reported in November 2019, no one had an estimation of the severity this virus could have caused. The reason for such a large scale spread is because this virus spreads through aerosol of the infected victim. Any material this aerosol (water droplets from the nose or mouth of the victim) land is the virus prone place. This virus incubates for around 14 days in the victim's body. During this time the patient is becoming the source of the spread of the virus without realizing it as by this time he/she does not have any kind of symptoms. It is due to all these reasons this virus spread from one part of the world to another. From the start of the year, many countries started reporting coronavirus cases but it was not until March when strict lockdown actions were taken globally. 

Are the fires still burning in Australia?

Starting from the month of June 2019 but the dangerous loses of life & uncountable deaths of animal get in the year January came with a huge fire in it. The Australian forest fire was one of the most saddening news at the start of the year. The fire took over hundreds of acres of the Australian forests. Billions of animal species were affected in this bushfire. According to the official report nearly 25. 5 million acres got burned in this fire. The entire world was with teary eyes seeing upon the pictures of the stranded and burnt animals. Kangaroo and koala bear which are only found in Australia were the species that were affected the most in this bushfire. 

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle:- 

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down from their royal status. This news caused a huge stir in the media industry. The Duke and Duchess decided to leave their royal duties and to become financially independent. The Duke and Duchess had planned to move to Canada along with Archie. “This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter,” this was the official statement released by the Duchess and the Duke. 

1st case of COVID-19 reported?

Death by Corona in China:- On 11th January China reported it’s first death due to Corona. This day will be marked in history as it was the first time when corona proved to be fatal for humans. From 11th January 2020, the severity of coronavirus was proved, scientists started realizing it as more than the normal flu. The researches for finding it’s cure started moving at a fast pace. 

Spread cases of COVID-19?

On 20th January the first corona case in the USA was reported. It was quite alarming to see this case as the spread of corona on such a wide level was never expected. Although coronavirus cases were reported in Japan, Korea and Thailand, these countries are located near China. However, the case being reported in the USA clearly showed that the preventive measures need to be taken against this virus otherwise the entire globe could easily be affected by it. Future months of 2020 proved this fear true, by March the entire globe faced lockdown due to this virus. 

Kobe & Gigi Bryant?

Kobe and Gigi Bryant:- On 26th January proved quite a heavy day for the NBA fans. A helicopter crashed in California on 26th January which caused the death of the famous NBA player Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. Kobe was an NBA legend who won numerous games. The flight was going through foggy weather conditions, the Bryant’s were heading towards a match in sporting facility Mamba Academy. The model of the helicopter Sikorsky S-76 model, which did not have a black box on board. 

Geographical location?

On 11th February WHO named coronavirus as COVID-19, which was also referred as 2019-COVID. “We had to find a name that did not refer to a geographical location, an animal, an individual, or group of people,” WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus this was the famous quote by the WHO on 11th February. Since this day coronavirus is also regarded as COVID-19. 

Lockdown in Italy?

10th March marked the date of the nationwide lockdown in Italy. Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced a nationwide lockdown in the country after it had become the second-worst hit country by the virus besides China. The lockdown was the only possible solution to virus spread. All borders were shut down to Italy to reduce further spread of the virus. All shops accept pharmaceutical and grocery shop, malls and stores were shut down during this lockdown. The basic concern of Italy was it’s older population. Italy is one of the countries with the highest ratio of older people. Sadly Italy suffered a huge trauma due to the spread of the virus. The same lockdown practice was followed by a lot of countries in the globe. 

Who declared coronavirus as a pandemic?

WHO declared coronavirus as a PANDEMIC on 11th March 2020. Before this announcement, Corona was considered as an epidemic. The epidemic is defined as “an outbreak of a disease that occurs over a wide geographic area and affects an exceptionally high proportion of the population.” Whereas pandemic is regarded as “geographic spread and is used to describe a disease that affects a whole country or the entire world”. It was a Herculean day for the entire day as this announcement showed the extent of the virus. A pandemic, therefore, shows that extreme measures need to take against this Covid-19 virus.
